Product Manager (Upstream)
The Product Manager (Upstream) is responsible for upstream marketing activities at SPR. This individual will develop and support voice of customer plans and build commercialization plans for new product development. He/she will leverage customer and competitive insights to develop long-term portfolio plans, establish user needs for individual products, and build commercialization plans to support go-to-market launch strategies, ensuring the development and launch of products that meet and/or exceed customer needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and executes voice of customer (physician, patient, sales, internal stakeholder, etc.) plans to define user needs and support product requirements to define products for new product development.
- Leads creation of commercialization marketing plans developed in collaboration with cross-functional teams for new products; leverage plans to transition and support formal product launch (go-to-market) plans with downstream marketing team.
- Collaborate with marketing and new product development team to build long-term portfolio plan, developing compelling business cases for identified opportunities, including market segmentation, customer (user) needs, product positioning, detailed financial analysis, and market risks
- Serves as an upstream marketing resource for engineering and new product development core teams, attending team meetings, providing marketing input and signatures where required, and supporting human factors engineering and other cross-functional team needs.
- Provides guidance and insights to downstream marketing team in development and execution of formal marketing launch plans.
- Maintains advanced working knowledge of SPR products and competitive devices to support new product development strategies.
- Demonstrates an ability to establish and build relationships with health care providers, field personnel, and internal cross-functional team members.
- Develop and execute aligned strategies to support growth objectives.
- Develop working knowledge of all SPR products and clinical trials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or health-related field, or extensive experience in medical industry. Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably in medical device.
- Consistent record of developing and implementing successful product marketing programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives and effectively present ideas.
- Successful experience executing and implementing voice of customer and market research.
- Ability to use insights, data, and statistical analyses to drive decisions and optimize work.
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize.
- Successful track record working in cross-functional teams and leading multiple projects/teams simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate optimally at all levels of the organization. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to get the job done in a “can-do” environment, allowing for flexible hours, depending upon the project and/or customer needs.
- Remote and small office environment.
- Must be willing to travel (~20-30%).
SPR is a multi-state employer so the salary range may increase or decrease depending on location. This position is eligible for annual company bonus. Compensation will be commensurate with level of experience and training and pertinent education among other relevant business or organizational needs.
