Milestones in innovation
The beginning of a vision
SPR was founded with a clear purpose: to revolutionize pain management. During this period, we secured foundational patents, designed and developed our first-generation SPRINT PNS System, demonstrated safety and efficacy in key pain areas, and laid the groundwork for what would become a trailblazing company in neurostimulation.
Breaking ground with FDA clearance
In 2016, we achieved FDA 510(k) clearance for the first-generation SPRINT PNS System, offering a minimally invasive solution for both acute and chronic pain in the back and/or extremities. This pivotal moment marked the start of our commercial journey.
Building a new market in pain management
The development and clearance of our next-generation single and dual lead SPRINT PNS System propelled us forward, as we embarked on building a new market in peripheral pain with increasing momentum. By 2019, we reached a key milestone—treating our 1,000th patient, validating the unmet need for a non-surgical, non-opioid pain management solution.
Increased commercial awareness and adoption
With continued clinical success and an expanded indication allowing for on-label treatment of headache and neck pain, our SPRINT PNS System reached over 5,000 patients by 2021, a testament to its growing impact. To respond to the commercial demand and support our US commercial expansion, SPR closed an oversubscribed growth equity financing.
Commercial demand and rapid growth
Our commitment to patient outcomes drove us to publish real-world evidence showing pain relief in over 70% of more than 6,100 patients. With more than 35,000 patients treated and a new FDA clearance in hand, SPR solidified our position as a market leader and continued to expand its reach and influence in the field of pain management.
A future of possibilities
Early 2025 proudly marked our 15th anniversary — a significant milestone in our journey of improving lives. In December 2025, we celebrated reaching 50,000 implants of the SPRINT® PNS System, a remarkable achievement that reflects the collaboration and shared commitment of SPR, physicians, and partners to serve patients with compassionate care. Building on this foundation, we continue to develop new products and expand applications, driving innovation that empowers patients to reclaim their lives and embrace brighter futures.
