Financial Analyst
Description
Assist with budgeting and forecasting revenues and expenses. Collaborate with the accounting department to review and analyze financial information. Present data to management to help guide strategic decision making.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and review the annual budget.
- Prepare and review interim financial forecasts (both revenue and expenses). Build and maintain budget and forecast templates for use by department heads.
- Analyze financial and non-financial data and compare to company goals and KPIs.
- Develop financial models to analyze and predict business growth opportunities. This includes analyzing costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations. Including providing explanations of unusual fluctuations and variances to plan or forecasts.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure including project accounting.
- Serve as the main Finance contact for department heads, supporting them with budget vs. actual analysis, budget preparation, and forecasting.
- Track sales performance, customer mix, customer ordering, and revenue trends identifying opportunities for growth.
- Monitor cash flow projections and assist in capital allocation decisions.
- Support Financial Statement preparation through data gathering and documentation.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with internal team members on projects focused on process improvement initiatives such as documentation, process mapping and efficiency improvements including ERP system enhancements.
- Leverage technology for data reporting, analytics, and information delivery including support for business modeling, forecasting, and budgeting purposes
- Evaluate large data sets with an ability to spot trends, present business insights, troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies
- Assist with annual audits and tax return preparation with the external accounting firm.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Experience, Competencies, Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in general/financial accounting, analysis and reporting, and/or other related financial analyst role.
- Minimum of 2 years in financial modeling
- Solid understanding of GAAP financial statements and common FP&A processes
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment with demanding internal and external deadlines
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with competency for identifying trends, detecting errors, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced skill level with MS Office Applications and Accounting/ERP financial software.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to influence and drive change.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present findings in a clear, concise manner.
- Continuous improvement focused: Willing to ask questions and take the initiative to explore new ideas.
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- Experience with Salesforce.com and Tableau preferred.

- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Small office environment (does own documentation and interacts directly with others in virtually all situations)
- Travel will be minimal (primarily attending conferences and trainings)
