Description

Excellent opportunity to make significant contributions to innovative neuromodulation research with a game changing pain management device company! Will support multiple aspects of Research and Development (R&D) projects and provide field support for clinical studies and commercial cases.

SPR, headquartered in Cleveland, OH with the R&D department based in in the Chapel Hill, NC office, focuses on researching, developing, manufacturing, and commercializing non-opioid, minimally invasive, innovative pain management options that improve quality of life for patients. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support R&D projects such as the design, preparation, execution, analysis, and advancement of research studies.
  • Work with staff, physicians, and researchers to review literature, analyze data, assess opportunities, advance new product concepts and improvements, generate requirements, and support laboratory tests.
  • Effectively work and provide R&D support within a team of multiple departments (e.g., Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, Clinical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Manufacturing, R&D, etc.) necessary to achieve the project goals and objectives, all within a given timeframe and budget.
  • Support documentation requirements for clinical studies and development projects.
  • Support scientific/clinical publication, presentation, literature review, and messaging in coordination with internal and external members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide field support for clinical studies and commercial use and evaluate the feasibility, efficacy, safety, and overall performance of new and existing neurostimulation systems.
  • Summarize and communicate input from experiences in the field to internal team members, indicating potential relevance to existing products and new products in development.
  • Support efforts to obtain extramural funding (e.g., grants, contracts, etc.) to advance R&D projects.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of all SPR products and relevant scientific and clinical data, facilitating clear and effective communication with all types of users of the Company’s products.
  • Engage as a scientific expert with internal and external stakeholders including key opinion leaders, clinical researchers, and healthcare providers, delivering evidence-based education, facilitating scientific exchange, and building strategic relationships to advance therapeutic knowledge and support clinical adoption of company products.
Requirements

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficient in electrical stimulation, neuromodulation, or neural engineering; human anatomy; neuroanatomy; and electronic circuits.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (approximately 25%).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience interfacing with clinicians/scientists and obtaining input to inform research projects and strategies.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific and engineering principles concisely and accurately to audiences with different levels of expertise (e.g., from physicians to laypeople)
  • Expertise in analyzing scientific data, reviewing literature, and supporting generation of grant and/or contract proposals.
  • Experience in delivery of therapeutic neurostimulation in clinical research and/or commercial cases, including image guided procedures (e.g., ultrasound and fluoroscopy).
